@cassidyjames the point is, it can save the application states to the hard disk.
Remember that thing about "always saved" from HIG?
eOS can use this stuff to achieve exactly that. When the user closes the application, just freeze it, save it to disk and then unload it from memory.
On the next run, just unfreeze it, and here it is on exactly the same state it was saved in.
Of course, the user still needs to have an option of killing it completely - just give them the menu option. Also, frozen apps could be marked in some way. For example, on the dock they could have a different color of LED - white, for example.
